GYNECOMASTIA (ENLARGED BREASTS IN MEN) CORRECTION
Gynecomastia is that the volume of the breast is larger than normal in men. Although there is usually no underlying cause, it is absolutely necessary to perform a detailed physical examination and investigation in terms of the cause during the first admission.
What are the treatment options?
Two procedures are used as treatment options. In cases where breast enlargement is found to be caused by fat deposit as a result of physical examination and additional tests, if necessary, the liposuction procedure (vacuum fat removal) is sufficient. However, if breast enlargement is found to be caused by glandular tissue, it is necessary to surgically remove breast tissue through a small incision made around the areola.
The surgical process…
The operation takes about an hour under general anesthesia. The patient is discharged the next day. After the surgery, there may be pain in the form of burning, but it can be relieved by painkillers. There may also be bruising and tenderness in the surgical site, which usually resolves within two weeks. It is recommended to use corset for one month after the surgery. By means of this corset, it is aimed to prevent the accumulation of fluid and development of edema in the surgical site. Daily activities can be started a week later. It is necessary to wait one month for light sports and three months for heavy sports. The patient can take a bath on the fourth day after the surgery.
Routine follow-ups are planned as the first week, second week, first month, third month and the first year.
