Why is abdominoplasty surgery needed?Due to various conditions such as gaining and losing weight and pregnancy, there might be excess tissue accumulation in the abdomen area. In such situations, if the person is not severely overweight, tummy tuck surgery can be performed.

How is abdominoplasty surgery planned?
In abdominoplasty surgery, excess skin in the abdominal region and some fat tissue are removed, the anterior abdominal wall is tightened and the belly button is repositioned. The length of the surgical scar varies depending on the extent of excess skin in the abdominal region. The surgery is planned so that the scar remains in the underwear area. Since the belly button is also repositioned, a scar is formed around the belly button. This scar is prevented from being recognizable with the appropriate surgical technique.

Can the stretch marks around the abdominal region be treated with surgery?
If the stretch marks are on the excess to be removed, they will be treated. However, generally the stretch marks on the abdomen are not excess skin to be removed. Those stretch marks are removed under the tummy after the surgery.

How is abdominoplasty performed?
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The operative time is approximately 3 hours. Two day of hospitalization is recommended. Pain may arise after the surgery, but this is alleviated by painkillers. There may also be bruising and tenderness in the surgical site, which usually resolves within two weeks. Two weeks of corset use is recommended after the surgery. By means of corset, it is aimed to prevent the accumulation of fluid and development of edema on the anterior abdominal wall. After the operation, it is necessary to wait 6 months to achieve the desired ideal appearance. It is recommended to walk on a slight incline as there will be tension in the abdomen for the first week. Daily activities can be started ten days later. It is necessary to wait one month for light sports and three months for heavy sports. The patient can take a bath on the fourth day after the surgery.

Routine follow-ups are planned as the first week, first month, third month and the first year.
